It's like every time I see that movie, I get chills. It's just so awesome. Last time I saw that film, I saw it alone, because my friends wanted to see "Ladder 49". Anyway, I stayed until they showed that last credit. I was that blown away by it all. I just sat there, in my seat until the last credit, and I was filled with joy and happiness. Complete and utter joy and happiness to see a film that was so daring, and beautiful, and complicated and funny. And philosphical. It was just what I needed in a film. It was just what I needed in that time in my life.
Then the film was over, and I remember walking out with my friends (their film was done), and I was approached by a homeless lady. I didn't have any small bills, like 1 dollar bill to give her, but she said that was okay, and she said God Bless and all that, and she knew I was filipno, so she started talking to me in filipino, but I couldn't understand. We parted ways, that's when she said God bless, and then, when she was crossing the street, I got a 5 dollar bill, ran up behind her, and thrust it into her hand, and walked away. She followed me, and said Thank you, Thank you, God bless, I will pray for you. She asked my name, and I said Elaine, and she said, I will pray for you, Elaine. It was beautiful. That's what that film did to me. God, I love films.
Anyway, I was filled with even more joy and happiness in that deed. It will come back around, I thought. We are connected, and everything matters. Everything matters, and everything is connected, and that is so cool.
Ate at Burgermeister yesterday with L. She had a cheeseburger, and I had a garden burger. So good. We walked around Irving and went to Wishbone, this awesome store that sells cool stuff. Mostly Paul Frank stuff, stationary, candies, little knick-knacks, books, and other unique stuff. L. bought a book on surfing (she's going to learn how this summer), and I bought a stapleless stapler (it punches a section of the paper and wraps it backwards...so cool!) and some cow tales (this chewy caramel candy with a cream center that my little cousins introduced to me). Also went to Crossroads (a used clothing store) and bought a gray skirt. Lovely.
I feel that every time I walk into a bookstore or a music store I forget what I want to see. Ugh! So frustrating! Went to Black Oak Books (also on Irving) and looked around. We looked at all the kids books, which were really cool. They had this cool illustrated Peter Pan book. The drawings were wonderful. Ate desert at Tart to Tart afterwards. L. had a chocolate cake and milk, and I had an apple almond tart and a café au lait. Great day yesterday.
Books I just remembered right now that I was interested in purchasing:
1. any book of selected stories by Philip K. Dick
2. "The Screwtape Letters" by C.S. Lewis
