Just felt like writing that since Chauncey brought up Conan O'Brien.
Cool news! So, I'm part of this fan club for Thrice called "The Thrice Alliance", and so I get these perks and stuff like exclusive merch, getting to communicate to the band via a Q&A kinda thing online, and buying tickets pre-sale (which doesn't really apply to me since I don't go to shows). I registered for the alliance a year ago, and I just realized that my membership will expire soon (this Friday). I haven't been going to the alliance website a whole lot, so I've missed out.
Anyway, I sent a question to Thrice, and I was hoping it'd get answered before my membership expires, and I can no longer view the alliance website. It got answered the next day. Here it is:
elaine asked: I love films and film soundtracks. Are there any film soundtracks that stick out in your mind as inspiring and beautiful? I apologize if this has been asked before. You guys are amazing, as always. Thanks and take care.
elaine
Teppei answered: I love Danny Elfman. Sleepy Hollow is beautifully haunting and Edward Scissorhands is amazing.
AAAHHH!!!! Isn't that awesome? I almost screamed out loud when I read that on the website. That's so awesome that they answered it. Ha.
In other news, I've never felt so awkward in my whole life. C. came over, and we watched "Les Choristes". It didn't have subtitles (it's a burnt dvd from France). So that was hard to understand. We just watched all the parts with the choir singing. Amazing. Get that cd NOW! He also brought "Strangers with Candy" because he wanted to show some shows to me since I have never seen it before. It wasn't really my humor, but it has some good parts. And then he leant me the dvd, which was nice of him.
The awkwardness increased during the conversations we'd have. There'd be these silences and pauses. I feel so stupid when it comes to socializing, I swear. I'm incapable of communicating to new people--that's so bad. I need help. He's coming over again next week to watch a movie I have that he hasn't seen (Stand By Me). Hopefully, this'll diffuse some of the awkwardness.
in the ipod: I'm using the shuffle feature, so every song's a surprise. I'd get Green Day right before Yann Tiersen.
reading:
"The Castle in the Attic" by Elizabeth Winthrop (a children's chapter book that L. let me borrow)
"Early Bird: A Memoir of Premature Retirement" by Rodney Rothman (this doesn't come out til May, but it sounds hilarious. This 28 yr old guy moves to Florida to live in a retirement community and recounts his time there. Haha.)

i'm glad you find my blogs delightful! i remember when i'd see the band members of thrice hanging out before a show, and i'd want to say hi to them and thank them for their music, but i'd get nervous and all prufrocky. i had all these chances too that God gave me, and then I just wasted them. oh well. That's what happens when you're like me, learn from my mistakes.
i don't think it's the right time yet to take a pic of C., but i will ask if he's on my space!
